Odesi detect scale of song3/23/2023 Just trying to show you there are faster workflows put there for finding keys. Not knocking the good info you put on here. Melodyne is expensive so I would only buy it if you actually need to do some transparent pitch correction. When you’re done with your Odesi session, you will have a 100 composed track that’s ready for production. It doesn’t change your workflow, it just speeds up your creative process. ![]() Vst that tells you the key and chord playing. Odesi helps you write hot tracks, and you can finish the production inside Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Reason, Pro Tools, or any other DAW. Just for workflow reasons I've included two links here that make finding the key of the song even easier then stated aboveĪpp for Mac called key finder. Plus you have to analyse all of your audio to see what key its in and that takes a bit of CPU power. Still, for finding keys it isn’t very reliable, especially with eastern music and dirty vinyl samples. Meaning you can do all your vocals for a chorus in 1 sweep. Now they have version 4 and that can pitch and time correct multiple tracks in 1 window. I have a licence for the old melodyne (2.0) and even that is the best pitch correction I have. I hope some of you guys find this useful and it gives you some inspiration to take your sampling to the next level.īacked. It's a great series that goes into a lot of detail as it progresses so you shouldn't have too many difficulties in learning the ins and outs of the program. You can then use this information to detune your other instruments so they match the pitch of the sample.Ĭelemony (the creators of Melodyne) have a 20 something video series on Youtube which shows you how to use Melodyne. You can change the reference pitch of Melodyne until most of the notes are close to the middle of the note on the piano (obviously not all the notes will be perfectly centered as music never is). In Melodyne you will be able to see where the notes sit in relation to the true pitch of the notes in the key. Messing around with the formant level can also create some interesting sounds.Īnother advantage of using Melodyne over a normal key finder is that if you stretch the sample, chances are the pitch is now somewhere between keys i.e no longer tuned to A=440Hz. Of course you may want to chipmunk the vocals but if you don't, Melodyne is a great way to pitch them up in a more natural way. I can pitch a sample up a long way without the vocals chipmunking. ![]() I also find the pitch shifting of Melodyne to be a lot more transparent than the pitch shifting in my DAW. It's definitely worth trying in certain situations. Doing this will probably sound weird and have artifacts, but if you are warping a sample beyond recognition then this might not be an issue for you. In some situations I have even been able to use Melodyne to make adjustments to the chords or melody of the sample within Melodyne. However, over the last few months I have found myself using Melodyne on every beat I make to mess around with samples.īecause Melodyne is able to track audio polyphonically, you are able to see not only what key the sample is in, but also what the specific chords are. Most people are aware of the power of Melodyne for pitch correcting vocals.
